This is question 8 on the FAFSA.
The student must provide his/her Social Security Number (SSN) to be considered for federal student aid. An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) cannot be used in the student’s Social Security Number field.
When you enter an initial FAFSA for a student, the response to this question pre-fills with the SSN entered on the "FAFSA/Renewal Application" page. If this information was entered incorrectly, you must start a new application.
For Renewal Applications and Corrections, the response to this question displays the SSN reported on a previous application.
